Commission: Far Up and Off

This is a piece for a client who had moved from the suburbs of Portland into the Pearl District, a neighborhood downtown. She and her partner had sold everything and wanted a clean slate. They had purchased a very modern condominium and was working with a designer, Camille Russell, at Bird in Hand (@birdinhandpdx) to help fill the space. That designer is one of my close friends, who commissioned me for a piece in their main room. This is 30” x 42” on white birch mounted in a custom walnut frame. Camille provided the color palette she and the client were using for the interior walls and furniture. She especially wanted me to pick up on the camel leather, the marble dining room, and the black credenza.

The client was looking for an abstract landscape that would remind her of the area, hills and valleys here in Oregon. The ask was for a pop of color, while bringing peace and serenity into their new home.
