Commission: Narragansett Bay Series

This commission was completed for dear friends from Denver, CO who recently moved to Rhode Island to be near family while raising two young children. The couple had built their home in Denver which was an open, modern floor plan. Unfortunately, the relocation to RI needed to happen quickly and therefore, they relied heavily on a family friend to keep their taste in mind, but picky was not a luxury. Consequently, the RI house is much different including space constraints and character; much of the furniture and art work doesn't quite fit.

Narragansett Bay is an area the family has visited over the generations. The couple had contemplated framing their grandfathers nautical chart of the area, but it's size (28 x48") was a bit too large. Kaylan had seen a piece of artwork I posted on social media using nautical charts and asked if I'd be willing to do something similar. She circled the areas of the chart she wanted to keep and tossed it in the mail.

This series is mixed media using acrylic, oil pastel, ink, collage on 12"x12"x2" gallery wood panels.
